| This was the original LST scheduled to be brought from Greece to serve as a Memorial. When first observed by a team who went to Greece in preparation of gaining ownership, it was in great shape, but wasn't when they returned to bring it home. |

| Ask any sailor who served on a LST and you will likely find that he thought his ship was a "Super T". However there were some differences in design and the larger ones became known as Super T's. But, regardless of their design, they all had the same job ... get the troops, tanks, fuel, oil, water, (and yes Beer) equipment and supplies to the place they were needed. And when these were no longer needed, pick them up and deliver them back to where they were needed or stored. This indeed gave these ships the name "Workhorses of the Navy." (I cannmot find record of an instance when they returned any Beer...ccb) |
