Surely those signal flags mean something. Anyone care to tell me what they represent so I can make the notaions here? (E-mail Buddy@LST1126.com) Our Semi-resident, not too confident Skivy Waver "Mike Christensen" says he believes they say November, Delta, Zulu, Tango, and were the call signs of the LST 525. (This from a faded memory of 40 years???)
Reminds me of the song "I'm working my way back to you babe"
Bouy dead ahead Captain!! Just a small one though.
Why were those Sailors topside all in whites?
Don't believe you'll see that American flag flying there anymore. What did the Country singer George Strait say in his song? "Just give it away!!"
Great photo!!
Lots of sailors passed through these locks going from the Gulf of Mexico or Atlantic Oceam into the Pacific Ocean and on to the Far East after getting on a newly constructed ship. However not many of them ever had the opportunity to return from West to East.
